It began as many Free Software projects do, with a need that wasn't fulfilled. I needed a small and simple meditation timer for the GNU/Linux operating system. I also wanted to learn the Python programming language, so the two needs converged quite nicely.
The first version saw the light of day at the end of April 2007, and soon I was getting notes from people who were using my program, eventually I was also linked to from one or two websites. I'd like to thank those people and websites as knowing that it was being used kept things ticking over.
So, in the latter part of 2008 I had the idea of an online timer, something that would work on other systems, not just GNU/Linux. After a little work there was a working prototype, but I suffered a little data loss and the idea was shelved as I had other commitments. In October 2009, I took up my copy of Bluefish and, working from memory, started all over again, the result is on this site and I'd love to hear your feedback!
If you want to know a little more about me, you can find my personal website located at http://quietwatercourse.co.uk. Should you find a bug or have any suggestions for my timers, click here to send me an email, just remove the "nospam." from the address.
